Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that feature. The provider processes the query and supplies any result. We do not keep or log those search terms on our own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
When someone sends an email, we retain the message as needed to respond. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a legal duty.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers receive routine technical information whenever a visitor loads a page:
- Page-view dates and times
- The referring website, when one is available
- Pages viewed and the time spent on them
- Device type and operating system
- Browser name and version
- The device's assigned IP address
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. We use them with analytics services to understand traffic in aggregate, including popular pages and points where visits end. A browser can block cookies through its settings, although doing so may change how some site features work.
What We Do With This Data
- Finding and repairing technical faults
- Measuring which content visitors use most
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
- Routing a query to the appropriate search partner
- Maintaining site availability, speed, and function
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Tom Green County Criminal History does not keep, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general directions to official custodians, including the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office, local court clerks, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and the Texas Public Sex Offender Registry. Texas criminal-history dissemination is governed in part by Government Code Sections 411.083 and 411.135. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not compiled into consumer reports or third-party criminal files.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes shown on this site. Their privacy policies, not this policy, govern data entered into those features. We cannot control a provider's retention, use, or disclosure rules, so visitors should review the applicable partner policy before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office, court systems, Texas agencies, legal-aid resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor follows such a link, the destination's privacy policy controls. Review it before submitting personal information.
Some advertising providers may use activity across websites to select targeted advertising. Any such tracking occurs through the provider's systems rather than ours.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Data may be available to:
- Government or law-enforcement bodies when valid legal process compels disclosure
- Advertising networks that serve content on the site
- Analytics providers used to measure performance and traffic
- Search partners that process a visitor's submitted query
How We Protect Your Data
We use standard safeguards for information in our control. No internet-connected service is completely secure, however, so we cannot guarantee that a breach or unauthorized access will never occur.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If we learn that a minor provided such data, we will remove it.
Your Data Rights
Rights may depend on the law that applies to a visitor and the type of information involved. The Texas Public Information Act, Government Code Chapter 552, governs access to information held by Texas governmental bodies, while Government Code Sections 411.083 and 411.135 govern dissemination of computerized criminal-history information. Those laws do not convert this private site into a government records custodian. Subject to applicable law, a visitor may:
- Object to or opt out of certain processing
- Request deletion of eligible personal data
- Ask that inaccurate personal information be corrected
- Request access to personal information we hold about the visitor
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised. A new version will appear here with an updated effective date, and visitors should review it periodically for changes to our practices.
